Mr. McLaughlin heads the firm’s business practice. For over 20 years, he has represented businesses ranging from startups to national companies in the areas of corporate formation, business succession, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, trademark, and asset protection. He has extensive commercial litigation experience and regularly represents businesses in shareholders’ and partners’ disputes, breach of contract claims, employee disputes, trade secrets and noncompete violations, copyright and trademark violations, GAO bid disputes, and commercial real estate disputes. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, is authorized to appear before the Court of Federal Claims, and has successfully handled multimillion dollar cases before a wide range of federal, state, and local agencies and courts. Mr. McLaughlin utilizes his trial experience in conjunction with his corporate and estate planning experience to develop asset protection programs for business owners, recognizing the special challenges facing professionals such as physicians. He also represents fiduciaries in probate and trust disputes.
